Intermittent excessive behaviors: differences in alcohol consumption and binge eating between young adults of rural and urban areas

Introduction: Drug abuse and binge eating have been characterized as part of the so-called intermittent excessive behaviors, which share common neurobiological pathways. University students come from very different areas to access higher education, for example, rural environments, where some habits, recreational options differ those people who grew up in city. Contextual cues are crucial development drug addic- tion, but little is known about role that living area individuals has on such drinking. Objective: The main aim this study was explore prevalence comorbidity alcohol consumption behaviors young adults (18-30 years), considering they up. Method: For purpose, AUDIT Binge Eating Scale were employed a sample 2461 undergraduates. Results: results showed significant propor- tion presenting risky pattern reduced proportion behaviors. Interestingly, both cases, there difference between groups, more vulnerable developing maladaptive patterns.
